RABBI 9 Isaiah 7:14 - Behold, a virgin shall conceive.
RABBI 9
Commentaries from ancient Jewish Rabbis who lived righteous lives point to and identify The Man: the Messiah of Israel.
Although not Scripture, the writings of various Targums and the Sanhedrin confirm the identity of the Messiah. Both appearances of Messiah are clearly identified by ancient rabbinical writings.
God called one man, the man Abraham, to bring forth a nation. And He called that nation, Israel, to bring forth The Man: the Messiah!
Isaiah 7:14
"Behold, a virgin shall conceive." There are some who say that this was made a sign, because a virgin ..." (fruit non apta generation). [Jarchi]
For the meaning of the Hebrew word "almah" examine the following references: Song of Solomon 6:8 and Genesis 24:43 (compare with verse 16: "... neither had any man known her"). "Almah" is used of the concept of "virgin" more than of "maiden", but ALWAYS of a woman who had NOT born a child. The reader of this passage in Isaiah's day would have understood it to mean: a "virgin who is a maiden" would conceive a child.
The view that some writers hold that "h'almah" in Isaiah 7:14 refers to a married woman is both inconsistent and incorrect. Compare with Matthew 1:23 in the Jewish New Testament where the precise Greek "parthenos" is rendered "virgin". A true SIGN from God. Neither the Pharisees, Sadducees, scribes, or doctors of The Law ever challenged Yeshua (Jesus) concerning his family tree. Both sides of His lineage, Joseph and Mary, went back to the line of King David as the Scriptures prophesied.
See Matthew Chapter One for Joseph's lineage back to King Solomon, the son of King David ("Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Yeshua, who is called Messiah" [verse 16]). See Luke Chapter Three for Mary's genealogy back to Nathan, the son of King David. Yeshua, " ... being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was born of Heli" [verse 23]. Genealogies were at that time listed on the father's side of the family; this is the reason the men in Mary's seed line were listed in Luke 3.
At any time, anyone who opposed Jesus could have gone to the Temple (similar to local courthouse records) and proven Him false if He were: that was one thing of which they NEVER accused Jesus. His credentials were EXACT: Messiah, the Son of David, Mashiach ben Dovid.
